Commodore Joseph B. Hull, United States Navy, died yesterday at his residence in this city in his 87th year. He had been ill from a complication if diseases for some time past, which were aggravated by his extreme age.
Commodore Hull was born in Connecticut in 1803, and entered the navy as a midshipman in 1813. In January, 1825, he was made lieutenant, and was successively promoted to the positions of commander in September 1841, and Captain in September 1855.
He retired from active service in the navy in 1861, and was subsequently promoted to the rank of commodore on July 16, 1862. He accomplished very good work during his years of active service, and was one of the most popular officers in the navy."
