North Carolina, USA
He is the son of Richard Spencer and Sarah Ann Doggett Reynolds.
He was one of the first settlers to come to what is now Owsley County, KY, coming there in the late 1700's. He gave the town of Cow Creek its name.
He married Elizabeth Naomi McLemore, and they had eight children - Pleasant, Tobias, Cecelia, Temperance, Richard Jr, Lydia (my 3rd great grandmother), Sarah, and Abisa.
The old Richard Reynolds cemetery was destroyed and the people of Cow Creek took up a collection and bought the large monument which has all the names of the Reynolds family who are buried there. It's placed where the cemetery was.
To my knowledge, he did NOT have a son named Whitfield!!!!
