Peter L. Haugen was born Oct. 10, 1864 in Sandre Fron Gulbranddalen, Norway to parents Lodver and Ane Haugen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Norway. He came to America in 1886 and homesteaded in this community. He had made his home here ever since.
He was married to Mathea Lien in 1892. She passed away in 1896. He later married Marie Bagstad. She passed away in 1913.
Peter Haugen was a charter member of Zion congregation and helped build the first log cabin church.
He passed away May 28, 1952, at the age of 87 years, 7 months, and 18 days.
He is survived by four sons, Axel, Alfred, Melvin and Ingvald; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Also one brother, Anton Haugen of Gully, and two sisters, Lena Nelson of Ortonville, and Pauline Higdem of Detroit Lakes.
One son and one daughter also preceded him in death.
