Ben came from Tenn. in 1851. Served 3 years Civis War in TX Calvery, at war's end farmed near Longview, TX. returned to beloved East Mountain 1883. Church of Christ Minister, Student of Politics, Philosopher, Confederate veteran. He represented Upshur-Camp Counties 1890-94 in TX Legislature. Married Martha "Mattie" Jane Fambrough and had 9 daughters. In 1868 married Mary Blakeley had 1 son Dave. Erected in Honor & Pride by Grandsons James Mahon, Alfred & John Ben Sheppard. Daughters listed on Mothers (Mary Jane Phillips )Site.
