John Turner Aiken, 77, of LaFayette, died Tuesday at home. Born November 19, 1930, in Buffalo, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Turner) Aiken. He was superintendent of schools at the LaFayette Central School District from 1975-1988 and was interim administrator post-retirement at several area school districts. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, chairman of the board at the Landmark Theater and a member of the LaFayette Optimist Club. In his free time, John enjoyed woodworking, travel and boating. John is survived by his wife, Jeanne Marie (Hotchkiss) Aiken; two sons, Jeffrey J. (Katherine) Aiken and James E. Aiken; one grandson, John James Aiken; and one sister, Suzanne Aiken. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Jacqueline Cheney and Mary Jane Aiken. A memorial service will be noon Saturday, February 16, at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., 2584 Field Lane, LaFayette, preceded by a calling hour from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
