Jim "RJ" Adams, 60, of Fulton, passed away Saturday at home. Born in Fulton, he was a life resident who especially enjoyed spending time by the river. RJ founded Metropolitan Public Safety in 1981 and retired in August 2007. He received numerous commendations for his work during his lifelong career in law enforcement, which encompassed both public and private sectors, including homicide and private investigation as well as becoming one of the youngest chiefs of police. RJ was a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). He was an Army veteran and served as a Military Police Officer. Surviving: son, David (wife, Patricia) Adams of Pittsford; daughter, Elaine (husband, Kyle) Lucas of Austin, TX; his father, Thomas C. Adams of Fulton; four grandchildren, Brittany, Jenna, Josh and Kira; a brother and sister; nieces and nephews. An informal service will be 12 noon, Thursday at Foster Funeral Home, Fulton. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday at the funeral home, 910 Fay St., Fulton. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Oswego County Hospice, P.O. Box 102, Oswego, 13126.
