She leaves one daughter, Ida, who cared for her, and seven sons - Henry, of Indiana;William, of Brushvalley; James, of San Franciso, who was here but left for his home soon as he learned of the earthquake disaster, and four others, who live in the west. The late J. H. Engle was son of the deceased. Mrs. Engle united with the Winebrenairian church when a young woman. Later, she joined the M.E. Church at spangler and a few years aog she united with the Free Methodist church of Indiana, of which she remained a consistent member until her death. Funeral services were held at her late home on Monday evening by her pastor, Rev. S. F. Heilman. Interment was made Tuesday in the family lot, near Pine Flats.

Obituary from Indiana Democrate Newspaper, Page 9, May 2, 1902

Miss Rachel Engle, aged 79 years, died suddenly at 4:30 o'clock on Sunday evening at her home on South street. The deceased had been in bad health for more than a year, but her death came very unexpectedly to her friends and relatives. Mrs. Engle is survived by one daughter, Ida, who made her home with her mother, and seven sons: Henry, of Indiana; William, of Brushvalley; James, of California, and four others, who live in the West. The late J. Hovis Engle was a son of the deceased. Funeral services were held on Tuesday and the remains were taken to the family burial grounds near Pine Flats and interred there.

I tried to locate her grave at Mc Dowell cemetery and I contacted some families but no luck. I think Rachel's family dishonor her.

Her son, John Hovis Engle's will said he will pay for her grave and tombstone. John died in February 1906 then two months later Rachel passed away.

However I believe Rachel should buried in Mc Dowell Cemetery. There are two unmarked graves near her family lot (her husband John Engle). I was using well witch to locate graves. thank you
