(Chinese stonemason's error on spelling of Saundsrs.)
William Thomas Saunders' original cemetery is unconfirmed to date. All foreign cemeteries were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. This stone and the surrounding stones were set by the Chinese government to acknowledge the contributions of the foreign contingent. They are not the original stones, nor are they set over the final resting place of the person identified.
