In this place, on Monday the 11th instant, at the residence of his brother, Mr. THOMAS GRANT, of Columbus, in the 45th year of his age, after a painful and protracted illness. He has left a wife and three small children to lament his loss, together with a large number of acquaintances, we deeply sympathize with his relatives.
The deceased had been a member of the Methodist denomination for many years, and his conduct was characterized by a strict adherence to his Christian duties. In his disposition he was kind and benevolent. His manners were courteous, and as a citizen he was respected by all who knew him. He bore his lingering sickness with Christian meekness and patience, and although his friends mourn his loss, yet they have this pleasing consolation, that what is their loss is his gain, for when the full monster,Death, appeared, he could feel with the Christian poet, who said,
"Jesus can make a dying bed
Feel soft as downy pillows are,
Whilst on His breast I lean my head
And breathe my life out sweetly there."
