Having birthed four children between 1773 and 1776, James Jr's mother, Elizabeth Vinton, died by 1779 at which time, James NILES sr. married Mary Swain (Widow Swain), and had 4 more children: James was about 7 yrs old when his father remarried, and his youngest sibling was 3.
Half-siblings of James Niles II were:
1-John Niles
(1780, Willington CT-26 JUN 1803, Willington CT);

Children of James Niles II and Lucy Beckwith Niles:
Two known children of the 5 children that they had together:
1-EZEKIEL BECKWITH NILES,
b. ~1803, New York; d. ~1870, MI;
m. 21 AUG 1830, in Syracuse, Onondaga Co.,NY,
SARAH MOSS, b. 25 JUL 1809,
Syracuse, Onondaga Co., NY.
2-JOHN NILES, b.~ 1804, NY.

Sons, John and Ezekiel, had removed from NY and were farmers living next door to one another in Ingrahm Michigan by 1850. The VINTON MEMORIAL places James in Naples NY in 1853. James has been reported to have been living in Michigan at the time of his death, so he may be the James Niles who is listed on an 1859 Michigan mortality schedule as: "age 87, a pauper born NY". Another Niles researcher has suggested that he is 'probably the James Niles who died in 1853 in NY'.
