Birth: Jun. 29, 1828
Wythe County
Virginia, USA
Death: Jun. 28, 1850
Wyoming, USA

"On June 30, 1850, while en route to California, Carmi Porter Garlick was on the north bank of Fontenelle Creek in Wyoming and wrote in his diary "I saw 6 graves today... The other bore the name of Granvill Landreth, aged 23, died June 28, 1850... very decently buried." This location on Fontenelle Creek is about 5 miles southwest of the Green River in Lander County, Wyoming, not in Utah."

Alternate version of where he is buried:

Granville died of the measles in the Rocky Mountains (supposedly on 25 June 1850, but the date is most likely wrong) on his way to California. He was buried in a wagon box, and the grave was covered with stones. The grave is on the banks of the Green River near Jensen, Uintah, Utah. [SOURCE: Gilbert Eugene Landreth.]

From a letter written by Luella Landreth dated 28 Jan. 1913 to Jane _____: Granville Henderson Landreth died on the road to California at the age of 22 yr. He was the handsomest of seven boys, over 6 ft. in height with dark hair and eyes and straight forward, frank, friendly in looks and ways and a favorite in the family and with his friends. He early death was a great grief to all who knew him and especially his parents and brothers."
