Andrew S. Olson, Pioneer Farmer,Dies March 1
Had Been Incapacitated About Year After Stroke
Andrew S. Olson, who came to this part of statewhen he was a lad ofthirteen, and who has lived on one farm for sixty-one years, died at theMercy Hospital in Valley City last Wed morning, Mar 1, at 8:45 o'clock.He had been at the hospital for nearly two weeks, with one briefintermission, having been under treatment for a very weak heart andhardened arteries, aftermath of two paralytic stokes.
Mr Olson suffered a servere stroke a year ago this spring, on April 19,1943, to be exact. During the summer he improved somewhat, even to theextent of being able to be up and around part of the time. He had a lightstroke a short time before Christmas, and there was no appreciableimprovement in his health after that. His heart became steadily moreweak, with resultant disturbances to the functions of the other organs,and death came to hime on March the first, at the age of 73 years, 9months and 10 days.
Andrew Olson, son of Mr & Mrs Steffen M Olson, was born at Nordfjord,Norway on May 21, 1870. In 1887 at the age of 7 years, he came to theUnited States with his parents and other members of the family, with thefirst settlement made at Benson, MN. Three years after that, in 1880, thefamily came to North Dakota and located at Kindred, ND, where the fatherof the family died in 1882. . The following year, in 1883, the widow andchildren came to the Litchville country and took a homestead claim onsection 34, Litchville township, where Andrew Olson lived, boy and man,ever since. His mother dies in February of 1924.
In 1913, Andrew S Olson and Olina Stomstad were married. To this unionone son and two daughters were born. Mrs. Olson died in February, 1934,almost exactly ten years ago.
Surving are the son, Orvin Olson, operator of the old family farm, two daughters, Mrs. Orrie Kleinheksel (Eleanor) of Portland, Oregon, and Mable Olson, student of telegraphy at Fargo; one grand son; one brother,Steven M Olson, Fargo, and three sisters, Mrs Gustav Peterson [Olena], of this little city, Mrs L. C. Bjone [Lars & Rosmena], in Norway, and Mrs.William Postel [Sophia], of Gold Bar, Wash. One brother Martin Olson, and one sister Mrs. G[Gilbert]. C. Bjone [Ablena], preceded him to the grave.
Funeral services were held at the North Lamoure Church on Tuesday afternoon of the week with the Rev J. E. Lee, pastor of the church incharge. Rev Lee was assited by the Rev. Mykland, of Preston, who spoke in the Norweigen language. Two songs in Norse and two songs in the English language were rendered by special musical organizations of the church.Serving as the pall bearers were: Gust Belling, Ole Nypen, Christ Bjone, Hans Belling, T.B. Smedshammer and Ben Osterberg. Interment was made at the side of his wife in the family plot in the North Lamoure cemetery.
Andrew S Olson was a good and a kind man and will be sorely missed by family and friends. Blessed be his memory.

BURIAL: Name in Burial records (per Merna McGregor in Litchville, ND -has cemetery record books) is Andres S Olson. I have personally seen this gravesite.
