Deceased Name: Obituary: Vera LaJune Barney
1920 ~ 2003

CENTRAL VALLEY, UTAH-

----
Our kind and beloved mother returned to our Father in Heaven, her husband and dear family who have gone before, on July 13, 2003.

She was born in Gravelbed, Sevier County, Utah on January 13, 1920, and grew up in Brooklyn, Utah with her mother, step-father and three siblings and also spent time with dear Aunt Molly in Ruth, Nevada.

June married her eternal sweetheart, Harold J. Barney, January 5, 1937. They and their children were sealed in the Manti Temple on November 17, 1955. Mother devoted her life to her family and loved most of all to be with them.

Service was the focus of her life. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She served in all the auxiliaries of the church at the ward and stake level. She loved being involved with the Relief Society sisters and especially had a love for the youth.

In 1988-89 she served a Family History Mission in Portland, Oregon. Many saints, family and friends have been blessed by her genealogy research and instruction. She was the head dietician at Sevier Valley Hospital in Richfield for many years. She also gave years of loving service to residents of the Richfield Care Center.

She is survived by three daughters and a son: Janice (Kenneth) Gurney, Gwen (Sid) Curtis, both of Aurora, Phil (Sylvia) Barney of Salina and Billie Ann (Kent) Chavez of Grantsville; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; sister, Grace (Donal) Helquist and brother Glen (Melba) Barney.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Central LDS Ward Chapel in Annabella, Utah. Family and friends may call at the Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary in Richfield Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the Central Ward Chapel in Annabella on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery.

The family is deeply grateful for the loving care given at the Richfield Care Center. Funeral Directors, Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Gunnison.
