Erected by the National Society, Colonial Dames of America, the memorial is a tribute to the US Forces whom served and died in the Spanish American War. The monument was unveiled and dedicated by Theodore Roosevelt on May 21, 1902. In October 1964, at a memorial service at the Spanish American War Monument, another bronze tablet was dedicated in remembrance of the US Armed Forces men and women who gave their lives for our country. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
