John F. Balosky, Sr., 73, a lifelong resident of Smock, Fayette County, Pa., died on Monday, December 5, 2005, in the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Fayette County, Pa. He was born on March 14, 1932, in Smock, Pa., the son of Walter and Elizabeth Balosky.
His parents, a sister, Maryann and a brother, Stush preceded him in death. John was a Coal Miner with Bethlehem Steel Corp. for many years. He proudly served his country with the United States Army in the Korean War. John was a member of Saint Hedwig Roman Catholic Church, United Mine Workers of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47, and American Legion Post 51.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 52 years, Carlita (Ensminger) Balosky; seven children: Michaelene Ruffcorn and husband, Larry, of Brownsville, Fayette County, Pa., Donnalee Balosky and husband, Robert, of Seville, Ohio, Michael Deeds and Omeda, and John Balosky, Jr. and wife, Ann, all of Uniontown, Anthonette Smith and husband, Dan, of York, Pa., Carlita Balosky, at home, and Linda Smitley and husband, Donald, of Markleysburg, Fayette County, Pa.; numerous grandchildren whom he cherished; six brothers and sisters: Irene, Betty Ann, Donna, Sophia, Genevieve, Frank and Vince; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC, AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS CEMETERY, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, December 8, 2005, when funeral services will be held at a time to be announce. Interment will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park, Route 40, Brier Hill, Redstone Township, Fayette County, Pa., where Military Honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 51.
