James Bailes, 66 years old, of 242 Wilson Avenue, Uniontown, formerly of Dunbar, died at 6:30 o'clock Monday evening in the U.S. Veterans Hospital, Aspinwall after an extended illness.
Born in Dunbar January 8, 1878, he was the son of the late Elzie and Emily Martin Bailes and spent all of his life in the county. He was a veteran of the Spanish American War, serving in the Philippine Insurrection with Company L, 41st U.S. Volunteer Infantry. Enlisting September 26, 1899 and being discharged July 3, 1901.
Surviving are a brother, Elzie Bailes, Jr. and a sister, Mrs. Dora Tantlinger, both of Uniontown.
The funeral service was conducted this afternoon at the Minerd Funeral Home at Uniontown in charge of Rev. F.E. Kearns. Burial was in Sylvan Heights Cemetery with Captain D. M. Bierer Camp, Spanish War Veterans, of Uniontown, conducting military rites at the grave.
