OLD STONINGTON RESIDENT DEAD
Mrs. Bonefeld, 72, Lived In Community for Last 51 Years
Mrs. Christine Marie Bonefeld, 72, died at 8 p.m. Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Victor E. Peterson, 1118 Washington avenue, where she had been staying for the past two weeks.
Mrs. Bonefeld, wife of Hans H. Bonefeld of Stonington, was born Feb. 9, 1867 at Als, Denmark, and came to the United States in 1888, settling in Stonington, where she resided for 51 years. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Nov. 28, 1938. Mrs. Bonefeld was a member of the Royal Neighbors lodge of this city.
The survivors include the husband, the daughter, Mrs. Peterson; one son, Harry, of Elmhurst, Ill.; two grandchildren; a brother, Hans Iverson, Santa Criz, Calif.; two sisters and three brothers in Denmark.
The body was taken to the Anderson funeral home and arrangements for the last rites will be completed today.
MRS. CHRISTINA BONEFELD
The body of Mrs. Christina Marie Bonefeld, pioneer resident of Stonington, who died Friday will be removed from the Anderson funeral home at 9:30 o'clock this morning to the family home in Stonington. Services will be conducted by Rev. L. R. Lund Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home and at 2:20 o'clock at Trinity Lutheran church. Burial will be made in Stonington cemetery.

Final rites for Mrs. Christina Bonefeld, pioneer of Stonington, were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the family home and at 2:20 o'clock at Trinity Lutheran church, Rev. L. R. Lund officiating. The church was crowded with relatives and friends of the family. The room in which the body rested in state was banked with beautiful floral tributes.
Rev Mr. Lund's sermon text was from the Gospel according to St. John, 14th Chapter, 6th Verse, "Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life." The music of the services included two solos by Mrs. L. R. Lund, the hymn, "Meet Me There," which was in the Norwegian language, and "The Christian's Good Night." Mrs. Otto Johnson of Stonington played the accompaniments.
Burial was made in the family lot in Stonington cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Hans Lorensen, Wilmer Larson, Peter Hansen, Arthur Sundstrom, Peder Pederson and Martin Erickson.
Harry Bonefeld of Elmhurst, Ill., Peter Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Madge Johnson, Mrs. Groot, and Mr. Christensen of Escanaba, and Arthur Lawson of Gladstone attended the services.
