Doris Sebastian Kawulok Jolovich, 79, died April 13, 2006, at her home as she had so desperately wanted.
She would have celebrated her 80th birthday just four days later, April 17.
She was the first child of Polish immigrant parents Anton and Mary Cecilia Wolney Kawulok, born in the coal mining town of Monarch in Sheridan County, Wyoming.
She was a diligent student and graduated from Ranchester High School. She married World War II veteran and childhood neighbor Rudolph Walter Jolovich on Jan. 27, 1946, at the historic Catholic Church in Monarch.
They drew a homestead on the Heart Mountain Irrigation Project in 1947 and moved to live at the former Japanese American Relocation Center near Powell, with their infant daughter Judy in 1948 as they prepared their homestead for living.
They formed close friendships with the other homesteaders as they forged their lives on the land. They were successful beet farmers and raised other crops and livestock. She was a dedicated, hard working farm wife, enduring many hardships and deprivations that came with homesteading.
A farm became available with better land and they moved to their present home in 1953. Mrs. Jolovich loved the farms and especially the trees.
Her greatest joys in her last days were her faith in God and her membership in the Catholic Church, her special dog Bruiser, her 15 great-grandchildren and her many friends.
Her great-grandchildren loved to spend time with her helping with chores. She often lamented that her husband did not get to know the youngest of these great-grandchildren.
She is survived by children Judy (Don) Frisby, Sheryl (Carl) Morris, Rudolph Jr. (Dawn) Jolovich, Anthony Jolovich all of Cody, and James Jolovich of Billings, grandchildren Erika Frisby (Jared Huckabee), Margaret Frisby, Carl (Denise) Morris II, Cari (John Beatty) Morris, Sara (Justin Crooks) Morris, Bobi (Casey Jensen) Morris, Tom (Airy) Morris, Toni Jolovich, Jamie (Hugh Dayton) Jolovich, Ashlee (Philip Dudley) Jolovich, Josh Jolovich, Andrew Jolovich and Chris Jolovich, sisters Helen (Bill) Breslin Bellevue, Wash., and Twila (Bill) Dahlin of Redmond, Wash., and brother Tony (Ella) Kavalok of Seattle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and great-grandaughter Briana Morris.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. April 22 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, preceded by a Rosary on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at St. Anthony's.
Memorials may be sent to St. Anthony's or Hands to Help.
