Owned the livery stable on the north side of 6th Street, between Madison and Washington Streets, in Covington.

Cincinnati Daily Enquirer, Cincinnati, Ohio, Saturday Morning, July 30, 1864, p. 3, col. 7 (sub 'Covington News'): "DEATH OF COLONEL FOY.- A dispatch was received in this city yesterday, announcing that Col. J. C. Foy, of the 23d Kentucky Volunteers, had been killed in one of the battles before Atlanta."

Cincinnati Daily Enquirer, Cincinnati, Ohio, Friday, Dec. 2, 1864, p. 2, col. 2 (sub 'Covington News'): "THE REMAINS OF COL. FOY.- A dispatch received yesterday from Nashville, states that the remains of Lieut. Col. James C. Foy will reach this city to-day. The funeral will take place on Sunday."

Cincinnati Daily Enquirer, Cincinnati, Ohio, Thursday, Dec. 15, 1864, p. 2, col. 6 (sub 'Covington News'): "ARRIVAL OF THE BODY OF COL. FOY.- The remains of the lamented Col. James Foy reached this city yesterday from Nashville. The funeral will take place on Sunday."
