Verna E. Conway, 95, a life-long resident of Washington [D.C.], died Tuesday of natural causes at the Bethesda-Silver Spring Retirement and Nursing Center, Chevy Chase, Maryland.
Born in Washington, Mrs. Conway attended the old Central High School. She was the widow of the late James Richard Conway, a local merchant with the Krupper Lumber Co. Her late son Richard Wade Conway, was a vice president with the Mechinger Lumber Co.
Mrs. Conway was very active in church and fraternal work. She was a member of the Montgomery Hills Baptist Church in Silver Spring, and was the oldest living past matron and life member of Eastgate Chapter No. 21, Order of the Eastern Star.
Graveside services on Friday, April 26th at 2 p.m. in Parsons Cemetery, Salisbury, Maryland.
