Isabel attended the public schools of Jackson County. Later attended Greensboro College (Methodist girls college) as a music major. While in Greensboro she met her future husband, Ed Bain. They were married in the Methodist Church at Sylva on October 19, 1921 and made their home In Greensboro, NC. They made their home in Greensboro, Columbia, Tampa and Atlanta prior to returning to Sylva at the end of WW-II.

She was considered a talented piano player who could play a piece after hearing it on the radio or in a movie.

She had jet black hair and green eyes. Friends and family state she was quite witty and "fun to be around." What a compliment.

She died at the age of 46 from cancer
