Like the wives of many Cornish miners, Sarah worked hard; she ran a boarding house in Globe,AZ, and had borders in Lowell,AZ, as well as Highland Park,MI, in addition to caring for their six children.
Everett often told his children stories of his mother catching Apaches peaking in their window in Arizona, and ultimately chasing them away with a butcher knife.
The family's final home was at 296 Eason Street in Highland Park, MI, which was built when William went to work for Ford Motor Company. Sarah lived here until her death in 1940.
