Michael Anthony Early was a Boy Scout who, along with two friends, Mike LaNoue (memorial #20764827) and David Greenberg (memorial #20764646) died on Mt. Wrightson (also known as Mt. Baldy) in November of 1958 in a freak autumn snowstorm. He was sixteen years old to the day. At six feet three inches, Mike was an imposing young man. Mike was well known and respected among the entire scout troop 70 as a steady youth, an experienced hiker, camper, and Life Scout. He had earned numerous scout badges and had even received survival training at the local air force base as a Civil Air Patrol cadet. In the end however, his skills were no match for the unanticipated blizzard and a killer mountain. This entire incident, famous in southern Arizona history is detailed in Cathy Coltrin Hufault's excellent book "DEATH CLOUDS ON MT. BALDY, TUCSON'S LOST TRAGEDY", available from AMAZON.COM, and several other online and storefront booksellers. Ms. Hufault is the sister of surviving scout Ralph Coltrin.
