Son of Edward & Phenata (Pinkston) Showen. In 1870, he's in Fort Scott, Bourbon Co., KS, as a barkeeper. By 1880, he is a machinest in Fort Scott, and was married to Maud (Ellis); father of two children: George Pearl Showen and Gail Showen aka Hazel Earl of the Earl Sisters. In 1892, he was living in Kansas City, Missouri, on East 12th street, and was a blacksmith. By 1895, he and son George are living in Shawnee, Johnson Co., KS. In 1900, he's listed as a watch maker in Shawnee, Wyandotte Co., KS. In 1905, he and son George Pearl Showen are again in Shawnee, Johnson Co., KS.
