G.R. "Corkey" Dickerson, 86, of Daingerfield, Texas, died May 9, 2007, in Pittsburg, Texas. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Daingerfield with Dr. Tim Wade, the Rev. Scott Darby and the Rev. Norman Crisp officiating. Burial will be in Daingerfield Cemetery under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Corkey was born in Oakdale, La. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Daingerfield, a member of Oasis Masonic Lodge, an ordained Baptist Minister, self-employed contractor, and a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Nell Dickerson, of Daingerfield; daughters, Janet Thomasson and husband, Smith, of Fort Worth, Rebecca Rabe and husband, James, of McKinney; grandchildren; Timothy Thomasson, of Waco, Jennifer Thomasson, of Waco and Staci Phelps, of Fort Worth; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Willard Dickerson, of Baytown, Frank Dickerson, of Corpus Christi and Dale Dickerson, of Fort Worth; sister, Donnie Boring, of Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
