Rev. FRANCIS CALLAWAY, JR., born bef. 1759 and died 1817/18 married (1) SARAH BREWER Abt. 1777 in Surry Co., NC, daughter of BURWELL BREWER and ELIZABETH PATRICK. She was born Abt. 1761 in Surry Co., NC, and died 1807 in Franklin Co., GA. He married (2) SALLY RUSSELL November 2, 1813 in Franklin Co., VA. She died August 19, 1845 in Lincoln Co., TN.

The Rev. Francis Callaway, III in his autobiography, written in his 70th year (abt. 1862), writes as follows:
"My grandfather, Francis Callaway, and his wife, my grandmother, were natives of Virginia. They raised three sons; viz. Samuel, Joseph, and Francis, the last of whom was my father, who was born in Virginia, and when young was married to Sarah Bolwer [sic].
My father was baptized in 1759 by Elder Thomas Gilmer of North Carolina. (He served in the Revolutionary War). He removed to Wilkes Co., GA, and united with the Huttonsfork Church (now Sardis) and was called to the care of the Liberty Baptist Church of Pendleton District, SC, and served said church as pastor for about 25 years, moving to Franklin Co., GA, in 1805, where he died in 1817 or 1818.
