Ben drowned on June 17, 1992 in a pond near the family's home in Hudson NH, while saving a younger neighbor from the pond. While the other child survived thanks to Ben's efforts, Ben didn't. For his heroism, Ben was recognized by the Boy Scouts and the NH Governor.
He was admitted to Boston Children's Hospital, and was on life support system until June 19, 1992.
He was buried in Edgewood Cemetery, in Nashua NH.
Ben was survived by his father, Wayne A. Wright, his mother, Lorraine Wright, and sister, Tammy Marie Wright.
Ben's paternal grandparents were James Whitman Wright and Dorothy Margaret Jennings Wright.
