Born Jemima Camp in 1790 in York District, South Carolina. She is the daughter of William Camp, Jr. Her grandfather, William Camp, Sr. and her grandfather, Thomas Camp, are Revolutionary War patriots. Jemima is the wife of John Copeland, born before 1806 in York District, South Carolina. They lived in York District, SC until at least 1850, which is the last census I have found them in. I believe John Copeland died in York, SC just before the 1850 census, as he is listed there, but is not the head-of-the-household (she is) and is listed last in the family. After John died, Jemima moved to Sand Rock, Cherokee County, Alabama with her daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law John Bridges. She is buried in Mount Lookout Cemetery, Sand Rock, Cherokee Co., Alabama. In 1813, she joined Buffalo Gap Baptist Church in York, SC. She transferred her membershipt to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, York, SC in 1818. John and Jemima's children are: John A Copeland, William Camp Copeland, Thomas Copeland, Mary Ann Copeland, Agnes Sarah Copeland, Abishia B Copeland, Elizabeth J Copeland and Joseph P Copeland. I have posted this family on Ancestry.com and Genealogy.com.
