Manson Eugene Baker, age 81, of Salem died Friday, February 4, 2011 at his home. He was a retired researcher for Exxon Oil Company and an employee of WSLM. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was born February 20, 1929 in Washington County, the son of Bert H. and Leona (Sherwood) Baker. He is survived by a nephew, Jerry Baker of Salem, and two nieces, Joan Henderson of Orleans and Phyllis Ratliff of Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles E. Baker; two sisters, Ethel Pauline Walls and Mary Edith Stewart; and two nephews, John M. Baker and Warren Stewart. There are no vsitation or funeral services. Burial will be at Baker Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Washington County Historical Society in memory of Manson E. Baker. Weathers Funeral Home in Salem is in charge of arrangements.
