BEETOWN, Wis. -- Robert L. "Bob" Udelhoven, 89, of Beetown, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at Grant Regional Health Center, Lancaster.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 23, at Schwartz Funeral Home, Lancaster, with the Rev. Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster, where military rites will be accorded. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

He was born on Feb. 26, 1921, in the hurricane area of South Lancaster Township, son of Anton "Tony" and Josephine (Fine) Udelhoven

Bob entered the Navy and served his country during World War II, stationed in the Mediterranean.

Upon his honorable discharge, Bob returned to Grant County, where he farmed in Beetown Township for many years. In 1994, he retired, selling the farm.

He married Orpha Moen in 1950; she preceded him in death in 1959. To this loving union, a child was born, Tony.

He later married Carol Sloniker in 1963; she preceded him in death in 1990. He then married Mary (Edge) Wamsley on Sept. 21, 1996.

Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and helping other people.

Surviving are his wife, Mary (Edge) Wamsley-Udelhoven, of Bloomington; a son, Tony (Ginny) Udelhoven, of Apple Valley, Minn.; grandchildren, Rachel Udelhoven, of Apple Valley, Minn., Emily (Tim) Ehlinger, of Richfield, Minn., and Adam Udelhoven, of Apple Valley, Minn.; a sister, Emily Werner, of Lancaster; many nieces and nephews; Mary's children, Donna (Greg) Martin and Diane (John) Vesperman, both of Lancaster, Darlene (Bob) Foster, John (Marie) Wamsley and Bill (Devon) Wamsley, all of Darlington; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and many members of the Moen, Sloniker, Edge and Wamsley families.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters, Bessie, Ray, Andy and Pat.
