FORESTVILLE - Carlus H. Tooley, 88, of Silver Creek-South Dayton Road, Forestville, went home to be with his Lord, Friday, September 12, 2008, following a brief illness at Brooks Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Central City, Ky., on February 14, 1920, the son of the late Jackson and Blanche (Cobb) Tooley.
Mr. Tooley served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He moved here from Kentucky in 1947 and among other jobs, he worked as a molder for the former Marsh Valve in Dunkirk. Mr. Tooley was a lifetime member of Gage Chapel Community Church, Smith Mills, where he helped with many positions, including usher and trustee and was a jack of all trades and master of most. He was also a very avid horseshoe and marble player and had a very deep love for his family and his Lord.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. James (Michele) Burau of Silver Creek, Mrs. Ace (M. Jane) Ferry of Irving, four sons: Harold (Dorothea) Tooley of Forestville, Johnny (Randee) Tooley of Falconer, Claude (Jackie) Tooley of Forestville, Kenneth (Katherine) Tooley of Fredonia and a sister, Elsie Ledford of Illinois. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Camilla "Moody" (Allen) Tooley, whom he married on May 25, 1946, in Greenville, Kentucky, and who died March 8, 2001, by three brothers: Clarence, Walter and Roy Tooley, a son-in law, Eric Larson, and by a grandson, Christopher Tooley.
