Mary Ann Smedley DiBenedetto

Mary Ann Smedley DiBenedetto, 65, of Downingtown, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010, after a short battle with cancer.
She was the daughter of the late Duer P. and Dorothy P. Stoudt Smedley.
She graduated from Downingtown High School in 1963 and went on to receive her bachelor's and master's degrees from West Chester College, now West Chester University.
Mary Ann taught for more than 30 years in the Downingtown Area School District, both at Lionville Elementary School and Uwchlan Hills Elementary School.
A member of St. Joseph's Parish, Mary Ann was active as an extraordinary minister, lector and religious education teacher and was on the hospitality committee. At the time of her death, Mary Ann was taking classes to become a lay minister in the church.
Her life was one of service to her family, friends and community. She will be missed.
Mary Ann is survived by her son, Andrew C. Everett (Eleanor) of Coatesville; her brothers, Duer P. Smedley Jr., (Nancie) of Jonesborough, Tenn., and Robert V. Smedley II (Mary Beth) of Downingtown; her uncle, Richard Stoudt (Verda) of Lionville; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 338 Manor Ave., Downingtown.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 23, and from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown.
Interment will be at Northwood Cemetery, Downingtown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Capital Campaign, 338 Manor Ave., Downingtown, PA 19335.
