Obituary
Ferlen
The sudden death at an early hour last Thursday morning of Mrs. F.T. Felren was indeed a shock to the many friends of the family here. Deceased had been sick for several months and a little more than a month ago suffered a stroke of paralysis. She was taken to the hospital at Boone, where, under treatment, she recovered enough to be brought home here although she was still very weak. On the night of her death she suffered a second stroke and this one was so severe and her strength at such a low ebb that she passed away almost at once.
Lydia Rundquist was born in Hastveda, Sweden, May 22, 1882. She died in Stratford, July 27, 1922, at the age of 40 years, 2 months, 4 days. Her education was received in Sweden under the direction of the Lutheran church and she was confirmed a member of that church before coming to America. In 1900 she came to America and while she returned to her native land once yet her home has been in and around Stratford since that time.
On June 17, 1903 she was married to Floyd T. Ferlen. Three children were given them to bless their home, Genevieve, Eloise and Floyd Junior.
Besides her immediate family, she leaves two sisters in Denmark, two sisters and two brothers in Sweden, one sister, Mrs. J.F. Lundgren, and one brother, Hjalmer Fosberg, both of Stratford.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the home at 1:30 and from the M.E. church at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. F.W. Wilson. The members of the R.N.A. camp of which deceased was an honored member, had charge of the funeral and were present almost to the entire membership. A ladies quartette from this camp furnished the vocal music. Interment was made in Oakwood cemetery.
