TOMMIE COY GOODWIN
Tommie Coy Goodwin a resident of the veterans home of California, passed away August 19, 1999, at the age of 78. He was a resident of the home since July 31, 1997.
Mr. Goodwin was born in Hillsboro, New Mexico, to Tommy and Nena (Miller) Goodwin and grew up in Inglewood, California. He received his BA degree in education from Los Angeles State University and was employed as a teacher and artist/sculptor. He retired in 1982 after teaching welding and math for sixteen years at Vallejo High School. After retirement he moved from Yountville to Berkeley to concentrate on his Sculpting and in 1996 he moved to Yountville to be close to his children.
Serving during World War II, Mr. Goodwin enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and discharged in 1945, having served as a PHM2C.
Besides Sculpting, Mr Goodwin was also interested in world Philosophy, religion and reading. He was a lifelong student and loved to travel the world to learn about different religions and cultures.
Mr. Goodwin was predeceased by his parents, his sister and his granddaughter, Lisa Hollier. His Daughter Rebecca Goodwin and Son Thomas Michael Goodwin Survive him, as well as three grandchildren, Heather, Charyse and Brandon Hollier.
