Mr. Gibson was a member of First Baptist Church Sumrall. He was retired from A&P Grocery and from MDOT, Hattiesburg. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II, a member of the Bouie Masonic Lodge #439 F&M of Sumrall Post 61, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3036.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie & Charles Theodore Gibson and step-father, Ed Moss; three brothers, Esco, R.T., & Dewitt Gibson.
He is survived by his wife, Katie Russell Gibson of Sumrall; a son, Eric (Nancy) Gibson of Hattiesburg; two daughters, Freda (Larry) Bennett of Hattiesburg and Belinda (Dale) Herrin of Sumrall; a brother, Frank Moss of Hattiesburg; a sister, June Geissler of Knoxville, TN; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Sunday at Hulett-Winstead Sumrall Chapel
