Wylie passed
away in
G a r l a n d ,
Texas, on
S u n d a y,
March 13,
2005. Chris
was born
August 20,
1955, in Sentinel, Oklahoma,
to Lloyd E. Howell and Ione
Roberts) Howell Fails.
Chris was a sergeant with
the Wylie Police Department.
Chris joined the department
in 1992. He was very active in
community programs and
organized the first Crime
Watch program in Wylie. He
also supported the local Blue
Santa program helping to provide
toys at Christmas for
many children in the Wylie
area which would not have
received gifts. Chris excelled
at his job. He was the field
training sergeant and the CID
sergeant. By doing what he
loved best and by doing it well,
he was recognized by the City
as the Police Officer of the
Year in 2002-2003.
Chris is survived by his parents,
Lloyd E. Howell of
Panama City, Florida, and
Ione Fails of Hobbs, New
Mexico; his children, Lindsay
Marie Lester and her husband,
J. R. Lester of Dallas,
Kristina Anne Howell of
Plano and Scott Anthony
Howell also of Plano; special
friend, Gena Locke of Wylie;
sisters, Pam Roberts of
Durant, Oklahoma, Judy
Mosley of Guntersville,
Alabama, and Laura Williams
of Lubbock; stepbrother,
Kendall Cowan of Lubbock;
stepsisters, Cathy Anglin of
Tulsa, Oklahoma, Teresa
Haney of Enid, Oklahoma,
and Laura Bearden of
Magnolia and mother of his
children, Jane M. Howell of
Plano, and many friends.
Chris was preceded in death
by his stepfather, Cliff Fails.
Funeral services are scheduled
for Wednesday, March 16,
2005, at 3:00 p.m. at the First
Baptist Church, 100 North
First Street, in Wylie.
Chaplain Dan Rainey with the
Wylie Police Department and
Collin County Deputy
Constable Earl Newsom will
officiate at the services.
Interment will follow at the
Wylie Cemetery. Funeral services
are under the direction of
Allen Funeral Home.
