Death: Apr. 22, 1926

"The Roanoke Leader" - April 28, 1926:

The news of the death of Mr. John T. Lee at his home at Welsh, five miles south of Roanoke last Thursday, carried sorrow to many hearts throughout this entire section, for he had long been a leading citizen of the northern part of
Chambers county. Mr. Lee was nearing his seventy-fifth birthday and had been in declining health for many months and confined to his bed for several weeks. His home church, Bethel, where the funeral services were conducted
Friday morning, was crowded by friends and admirers of the deceased and his good family. Music was furnished by a quartet from Roanoke. The pastor of the church, Rev. Brady Bartley, was in charge of the services. A beautiful
tribute was paid to the memory of the deceased by Rev. J.W. Rucker of LaFayette.
Mr. Lee is survived by his wife and eleven children, seven sons and four daughters. Three children in the family have died. Mr. Lee was a good man at home and away from home. He tried to fill well his place in the world and
consequently lived a useful life and had the esteem and confidence of his neighbors. His going hence is a sad loss to those who loved him and to the public at large.
"The Roanoke Leader" - August 25, 1926:

Last Thursday at Welsh community the large estate of the late Mr. John T. Lee was settled by the heirs. By agreement, the real estate was sold by John T. Lee Jr. including five tracts, in less than an hour, the whole amounting to $32,125. Only heirs were invited to bid.
Mrs. John T. Lee Sr. retains the Welsh home place, including residence, store and 100 acres. The Willis Jordan place of 144 acres was purchased by Pierce D.
Lee; the Gauntt place of 112 acres and the former home place was purchased by Homer D. Lee and Roby J. Lee; the Davis place of 141 acres was purchased by William F. Lee; the Smith place of 146 acres was purchased by Misses Lena and Addie Lee. By previous agreement, 276 1/2 acres south of Pearson's Cross Roads was sold to Chris Magbee.
