Son of Ernest Manley Jenison and Laura (Hinsey) Jenison; married, September 14, 1929, to Barbara E. Weinburgh. Republican. Newspaper editor; served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; U.S. Representative from Illinois, 1947-53 (18th District 1947-49, 23rd District 1949-53); defeated, 1952, 1954; delegate to Republican National Convention from Illinois, 1956. Methodist. Member, American Legion; Sigma Delta Chi; Freemasons; Elks. Died June 22, 1996

EDWARD H. JENISON: June 28, 1996

Edward H. Jenison, 88, was a three-term U.S. Representative from southeast Illinois and the editor and publisher of the Paris Beacon-News for the last 65 years. He died Monday at Paris Community Hospital. Mr. Jenison was a lifelong journalist, starting as editor of his high school newspaper in Fond du Lac, Wis. As a lieutenant commander in the Navy during World War II, Mr. Jenison worked in intelligence in Washington and aboard aircraft carriers in the Pacific. In addition to his service in Congress from 1946 to 1954, he served on the Illinois State Board of Vocational Education, as a member of the Illinois Constitutional Convention and as a director of the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce. As a journalist, Mr. Jenison was named by the Southern Illinois Editorial Association as master editor in 1986. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; a son, Edward; three grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren. Services for Mr. Jenison were held Thursday in Paris, Ill
