..Obit::::
-- Bill Minor, 79, of Lake Wylie, SC, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Bill, as he was known to his friends and loved ones, was born July 27, 1932 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the only son of William McKinley and Vera Florence Minor. He was a graduate of North Fulton High School, attended Emory University, and graduated from Auburn University in 1954. While at Auburn, he was in the ROTC, and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and the rifle team. Upon graduation, he served in the Army as an instructor in the armored tank division. In 1954, he met the love of his life, Eleanor Theresa Scruggs in Lexington, KY, and they married in 1955. They relocated to Charlotte from Mountain Brook, AL in 1961. He became a manufacturers' representative and started the William M. Minor Company, where he worked until he retired in 1999. In 1974, they moved to River Hills Plantation in Lake Wylie, as one of the earliest community residents. Bill was a charter member of the River Hills Community Church where he served as Chairman of the church council and was very active in the music ministry. He was President of the Chancel Choir and the Music Men, and was recently awarded President Emeritus of the choir as well as a special award for his service to the music ministry. In addition, Bill and his friend Sam Biggers gave and received many hours of joy as they played guitar and sang together at adult day care centers and a hospice facility each month. He also served on the Community Association board and was a member of the River Hills Country Club where he enjoyed many years of tennis and dancing at parties. Bill also enjoyed hunting, fishing and target shooting with his buddies, and especially his times at the Old Friends Club. Out of a sense of duty to the country that he loved so much, he served as the Assistant Poll Manager at each election. In recent years he enjoyed working as a driver for the car auction company, Adessa.
