Hunt, Raymond D. "R.D." Passed away in Issaquah, Washington on December 15, 2011. R.D. is survived by his wife of 61 years Dorothy, his three children, Ray (Meg) Hunt, Ron (Margaret) Hunt, and Carol (Brian Underwood) Hunt; and by his four grandchildren, Jennifer, and Rachel Hunt; Abigail, and Andrew Hunt. He is also survived by three sisters, Doris Smith, Joyce Smith, and Nancy Ridenour. R.D. was born January 4, 1923 in Kokomo, Indiana. Following high school, he furthered his education at Case Institute (Case Western Reserve) in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1943, he entered the United States Army Air Corps. During World War II he flew in the European theater of operations. His unit was awarded the distinguished unit citation and he was personally awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. R.D. retired from active duty in 1955 and became a test pilot for McDonnell Aircraft Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1968 he retired from the Air Force Reserves, and in 1987 he retired from McDonnell Douglas. In 1987 he and Dorothy settled in Issaquah. R.D. will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who always put others before himself. Services: At his request a service with military honors will be held Thursday, May 24, 11:00 AM at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that contributions in his memory may be made to the SETP (Society of Experimental Test Pilots) Scholarship Foundation, PO Box 986, Lancaster, CA 93584, www.setp.org, or a charity of your choice. A gathering of his family and friends will be held immediately after the service at Balaban's in Chesterfield, at the intersection of Clarkson and Baxter Roads.
