Brantley Man Dies In Head-On Collision
HORTENSE < A Brantley County man ided and another man was injured in a head-on collision Thursday morning near Hortense.
Frank Burgess, 31, of Hortense, was killed in the crash about 7:51 AM, Trooper 1st Class Ray Strickland of the Georgia State Patrol reported.
The other driver, Jeffrey Rowland, 39, also of Hortense, had serious injuries, Strickland said.
Rowland was taken to Southeast Georgia Health System's Brunswick hospital, then taken in stable condition to Shands Jacksonville, a health system spokeswoman said.
Information about his condition Friday wasn't available from Shands.
A preliminary investigation indicated Rowland was driving north on Browntown Road in a 1977 Ford F-150 pickup truck. Burgess was driving a 1955 Lincoln Town Car south.
The pickup crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Lincoln, Strickland said.
The cause is under investigation. No citations had been issued as of Friday, records showed.
