Miami Man Dies In Fiery Accident Near Patterson
PATTERSON — A Miami, Fla., man was killed near here Sunday when his pickup truck went out of control, crashed and burst into flames, said the Georgia State Patrol.
Gary Allen Boyett, 58, died in the 4:04 p.m. accident, said Donna Dismuke, GSP Waycross post secretary.
Driving a 2004 Dodge Dakota, Boyett was northbound on Georgia 15 when the truck went out of control. The driver over-corrected the steering, causing the truck to rotate counter clockwise, said Dismuke. The truck continued onto the east shoulder of the roadway, then careened down a ditch for 333 feet and struck a tree with the front bumper. Dismuke said the truck then was overcome by flames as it came to rest in a woodline, facing north.
Trooper Josh Taylor investigated the accident.

The truck went off the road and into the ditch on the east side where it traveled about 330 feet before hitting a tree, Drury said.
"The vehicle was overcome by fire," the investigating trooper's report said.
