Shirley was born in Greybull on Sept. 11, 1929. She was the daughter of Rex and Rose (Peterson) Mowell. She received her schooling in Shell and Greybull.
She married Larry W. "Turk" Lassiter in 1948 in Billings.
Shirley worked as a radio technician for over 20 years at the Wyoming Department of Transportation, retiring in 1994.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bingo and cards. She enjoyed people and volunteering, especially at the Senior Citizens Center in Greybull, where she served on the board. She loved her boys and spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley will be greatly missed.
Shirley was a 60-plus year member of the VFW Auxiliary #3305, a member of the Eagles Auxiliary #3086, the Red Hat Society and a member of the First Baptist Church of Basin.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, two sons, Don and Joe; two brothers, Dale and Vernon; and her sister, Nancy.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Bill Lassiter (Joan) of Riverton, Bob Lassiter of Greybull, Steve Lassiter (Holly) of Cody, Jackson Lassiter of Washington, D.C.; and a dear stepson, Larry W. Lassiter, Jr. of Yucaipa, Calif.; her brother, Glenn Mowell (Linda) of Lafayette, La.; 19 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at the Mount View Cemetery in Basin.
