Lydia Wideman Dettweiler was born April 17, 1864 to Henry & Barbara Eby Wideman in Huron Co. Ont, passed away at her home near Caro, MI. July 29, 1953, aged 89y.3m.12d.
She was married to Israel Dettweiler Oct. 4, 1895. They moved to Tuscola Co. MI in Jan. 1888. To this union were born 4 daughters and 3 sons.
The 4 daughters survive (Mrs. Susanna Smith, Lavina- Mrs. Forrest Vader, of Caro, MI. and Lillie Ann-Mrs. Lloyd Wilson, Ypsilanti, MI.). She is also survived by one sister (Mrs. Magdalena Reist, Bay Port MI. and one brother Henry Wideman, Pigeon, MI).
Her husband preceded her in death in Jan. 13, 1948, and also her 3 sons, Eldon in April, 1938 and Albert and Elmer in infancy.
In her youth she chose to follow Jesus Christ. She was baptized into the Mennonite faith in which she remained throughout life. Her Christian witness was largely expressed in her influence as a mother and grandmother.
Funeral services were hold at the United Brethren Church, Colwood, MI, in charge of Donald King, L.H. Cook and L.A. Wilson. Interment was made in the Almer Cemetery in Caro, MI.
