Birth: Aug. 4, 1847, England
Death: Nov. 12, 1925
Douglas
Cochise County
Arizona, USA

Francis Kerby, III was born in the Jersey Isles, the second child and second son of Francis Kerby, II and Mary LeCornu, just about 1 month after his mother and father were baptized into the LDS faith by Elder Dunbar and about 1 year prior to the family sailing for Boston, Massachusetts to live in the new country where they could practice their religion without censure from their parents and the Anglican Church.
A farmer by trade, Francis came to Arizona from Utah where his parents had settled after moving west on a wagon train. Before leaving Utah he met and married Rachel Isabel Riggs, the daughter of a fervent LDS follower and preacher, Nathaniel Riggs. The Kerby family arrived in Pima, Graham County, Arizona where they lived in Matthewsville until removing to the Webb district of Elfrida in Cochise County, Arizona, today just a one and a half hour drive by car but a hard day's journey in those days by horse and buggy/cart/wagon or an unreliable auto.
Francis and wife Rachel both died in Webb and were buried in the Whitewater cemetery in Elfrida located on Mormon Road. Francis' death was caused when he was struck by an automobile. He died in Calumet Hospital of his injuries.
