Meagan Lynn Toothman, age 22, left this world to continue her journey on August 22, 2011. She was a 2005 graduate of Turpin High School and Wittenberg University in 2009, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Meagan was currently enrolled in the School Psychology Program at the University of Cincinnati, where she earned a Masters degree in Education. She was preparing to complete her final internship in school psychology in the West Clermont school district. Meagan was the current cheerleading coach at Turpin, where she was a three year varsity cheerleader; 4 year member of academic quiz team; 3 year member of cross country and track; student council secretary; member of chorus; Peer Counselor; Senior Leader; Just Say No Leader; Turpin Dance Team; Ohio Reads volunteer; Chilln' Chums volunteer; National Honor Society, and Key Club member. Meagan was recognized as a "Future Leader of America." Meagan was a member of Ohio Dance Masters Jr. Organization and competed with the Dawn Meyer School of Dance performance team for ten years. She was a 4 year varsity Tiger cheerleader at Wittenberg and a 1 year heptathlete on the track team. Meagan was a sister in the Delta Gamma sorority and a member of Psi Chi, National Honor Society for Psychology.
She was born in Wheeling, WV in 1987. Meagan was the daughter of Melissa and Tim Oakley of Anderson Township and Ronald Toothman of Jacobsburg, Ohio.
She leaves to cherish her memory: parents, Melissa and Tim Oakley and Ron Toothman; sister, Victoria Oakley; brother, Samuel Oakley; Grandparents: Ed and Carole McCorkle of Bellaire; Janet Toothman of Jacobsburg; Jack and Saranne Oakley of Nelsonville; Helen Campbell of Shadyside. She leaves numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and her beloved dog, Mabel. Meagan's obituary is best written by the amazing number of lives she has touched in her life and death. Support and love have come from all over the country. As a coach, friend, nanny, and colleague, Meagan was always there with a hug and a smile, leaving all who knew her a little better for the contact. Just as important to us has been the news that she has become a positive force for organ donors. We have received thousands of notes from people who have had their lives impacted by the donation of an organ. In death as in life, Meagan has continued to help and serve others. She continues to embody the Witt motto of having light and passing it on to others.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Meagan Toothman Scholarship Fund, c/o Turpin High School, 2650 Bartels Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45244.
