FUNERAL SERVICES HELD
MONDAY FOR JAMES GOTHAM
Former Lake Captain Had Resided Here for Years. Died in De-
troit, Aged 79 years.
The funeral services held at the Harry Knight home here, at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, for James E. Gotham, aged 79 years, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gladys Hall, of Detroit, early Saturday morning, were largely attended. For many years a captain on the Great Lakes, Mr. Gotham, with his family, had resided in this vicinity during the greater part of his life. He was a member of both the Masonic and Odd Fellows' lodges of this village.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Harry Knight of this village, Mrs. Dean Hall of Detroit, Mrs. George Wickter of Toledo, and Mrs. Helen Osgood of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. Ida Howe, of Clayton, N.Y.
The Rev. John A. Mundell of the Presbyterian church assisted in the services, and Mrs. Grace Carpenter read "The Crossing of the Bar." Interment was in Pleasant View.
Among those from away who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hall and Dee Parker of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. James Barrow, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Barrow and Mrs. Charles Robertson of Adrian; George Gotham of Chebonee, Michigan, Mr. and Mrs. George Wickter and Dr. and Mrs. Stafford of Toledo.
The pallbearers were: J. W. Giles, Eugene Brenot, Frank Saxton, J. T. Carpenter, Fred Josenhans and George Rothfuss.
