Marvin H. Matzke, 80, County D, Forestville, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at home after a short illness.
He was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Kolberg, Wis., to the late Paul and Emma (Kay) Matzke.
Marvin attended the Kolberg Grade School and graduated from the Brussels High School on May 18, 1944.
Marvin entered the U.S. Army and served in Japan during World War II. After his discharge Marvin came back to the home farm in Kolberg and spent the rest of his life farming. He was a member of the Kolberg Emanuel Lutheran Church and served as a councilman.
He married Laura Nessinger in Algoma on July 23, 1955.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Laura, of 52 years; his four children, June (Larry) Johnson, Luxemburg; Neal (Roberta) Matzke, Forestville; Fern (Tim) Blasier, Green Bay; and Amie (Gregg) Pittman, Oregon, Wis.; one granddaughter Jordan Blasier; three step-grandchildren, Crystal (Jeff) LaLuzerne, Angela (Ryan) Kezo and Bruce Schmidt; six step-great-grandchildren, Annika, Serena and Zephaniah LaLuzerne and Mariah, Malachi and Kathleen Kezo; two brothers, Erwin Matzke, Green Bay; and Ruben (Alvina) Matzke, Sturgeon Bay; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Chester (Betty) Nessinger, Algoma; Melvin (Dorothy) Nessinger, Shortsville, N.Y.; and Kathryn Zastrow, Algoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, John Paul Matzke; father and mother-in-law, John (Ora) Nessinger; brothers, Elmer and Harry Matzke; infant sister, Ella Matzke; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mrs. Erwin (Alice) Matzke, Mrs. Harry (Dorothy) Matzke, Mrs. Vernon (Caroline) Diedrich, John A. Nessinger, Raymond Nessinger, Phillip and Judy Nessinger, Ralph Nessinger, August and Joyce Arbeiter, Harry (Red) Zastrow, Mrs. Ralph (Rosie) Nessinger and Mary (John) Young.
