Calvert Death Pushes Crash Toll to Four
The 4th fatality of an April 4 car-truck collision at the intersection of Highways 77 & 121 was counted Saturday.
Dead of injuries received in the collison is Lee Roy Calvert of Lewisville. Calvert's death pushes to 16 the total number of persons killed in automobile accidents in Denton County this year.
The other three to die in the accident included John Miles Baggett and George F. Sigler, both of Lewisville and both killed instantly; McFarlin Carpenter, also of Lewisville, died April 12.
Funeral services for Calvert will be held today at 3:30 pm in the Lewisville Assembly of God Church, with Rev. William Panos, minister, officiating. Burial will be in the Little Elm Cemetery under the direction of Rhoton Funeral Home.
Calvert, 57, was a retired farmer. He was born in Italy, Texas, December 26, 1899. Survivors include his widow; two sons, Roy Calvert of Frisco and James B. Calvert of Denton; one sister, Mrs. Florence Forbes of Clovis, New Mexico and five brothers, Ross Calvert of Phoenix, Arizona, O. B. Calvert of Frisco, Claude Calvert of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Collie Calvert of Plano and John Calvert of Lewisville.
