Mrs. Jay (Bernice) Winters, 72, died Friday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Monday at the First Baptist Church, Altus, with the Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating. Burial will be at Warren Cemetery under the direction of Tims Funeral Home.
Mrs. Winters, the daughter of pioneers Ed and Hazel Preslar, was born Oct. 21, 1917, at Blair. She married Jay Winters in 1932, and he died in 1966.
Bernice had lived in southwest Oklahoma all of her life and still owned the land on which her family settled. She moved to Altus from Friendship in 1960.
Mrs. Winters ran the snack bars at the Altus Air Force Base golf course and bowling alley.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Hoffman, Brownwood, Texas; four sons, Lorin, Burl, Gary and Mike Winters, all of Altus; two sisters, Dorothea Jennings, Fort Worth, Texas and Muriel Winters, Hobart; grandchildren, Kim Baum, Kelly Hoffman, Steve Winters, Nicki Walker, Kendall Winters, Vickie Davis, Jana Bills, Bridget Winters, Jill Richards, Jason Winters, Gara Winters, Tosha Winters, Shawn Winters and Joshua Winters; and great-grandchildren, Dawn Winters, Jarrod Baum, Kristen Baum, Sylvia Walker, Elizabeth Noel Hoffman and Kenna Davis.
